ECUADORIAN ARTISTS EXHIBIT IN OTTAWA

   

The pictorial exhibition "Themes and conceptual changes" was opened in the Art Gallery of the Autonomous University of Mexico-UNAM-based Canada. This exhibition contains works by artists Salome Lalama, Alba Lucia Erazo, Cristina Grijalva and Elizabeth Taipe, who represent the artistic traditions of Ecuador through its power and creativity.

CONSTITUTIVE TREATY OF UNASUR ENTERS INTO FORCE

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, welcomed the representatives of 12 countries of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR). "Long live UNASUR", "Long live the South American sovereignty and independence", "Long live Latin American unity" said Minister Patiño, pleased to note the entering into force the Constitutive Treaty of UNASUR.

Told in three tales by three promising young Ecuadorian directors, RIFF RAFF focusses on assortment of outsiders and their struggling relationships. We Love Helena So Much, concerns the insecure teenager, Helena, who worries that she´s too ugly to attract Diego. Once he actually becomes her boyfriend, their relationship takes an unexpected turn. Blows of Life is about another rocky relationship. Daniel is a boxer who loves being in the ring-but his wife, Sofia, is worries about him and their unborn child. Those You Find follows three characters: a man wandering around the city instead of going home to deal with a family matter, a security guard as he observes people saying their goodbyes at the bus station, and Helena again. Bronze Zenith winner at the 2009 Montreal World Film Festival.
ECUADOR GOVERNMENT INVITES SCIENTISTS AND RESEARCHERS TO PROGRAM "PROMETEO"

The program finances temporary or permanent stays of foreign and Ecuadorians scientists living abroad, and provides facilities and incentives that allow them to devote full time to scientific and academic activities.

UN SECRETARY GENERAL OFFERS SUPPORT TO ECUADOR

The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon congratulated President Rafael Correa for the Constitution, especially on human rights, environmental and shelter issues.

SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN BILATERAL RELATIONS WITH NORTH AMERICA

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Integration, Ricardo Patiño, informed about the progress on cooperation and strengthen friendship between Ecuador and North American countries.

INITIATIVE “YASUNI ITT”

A Memorandum of Agreement was subscribed on August 9, 2010 between the Government of Ecuador and the United Nations Development Program -UNDP- for Management and other Support Services related to the Ecuador Yasuní ITT -Trust Fund.

COUNTRIES THAT REQUIRE TOURISM VISA TO ENTER INTO ECUADOR

Since September 3, 2010, the following countries require tourism visa to enter into Ecuador:  Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan and Somalia . 

Chinese citizens who have permanent residence in Canada and wish to visit Ecuador as tourists need to request from the nearest Ecuadorian Consulate in Canada or the Consular Section of the Embassy of Ecuador in Ottawa a “No Visa Required” stamp, with presentation of their passport and documents proving that they are Canadian residents or landed immigrants. Citizens of Colombia need to present police check.

Citizens of any another nationality can enter to Ecuador without visa, to remain for a maximum period of ninety days, in application of the principle of free circulation of people and in order to fortifying the relations between Ecuador and all the countries of the world, and to promote tourism  (see consular services).
